Outcome Health Announces Partnership with Unity Consortium to Raise Awareness For and Take Action On Vaccination

By | News

Nationwide campaign will explain the importance of vaccination for teens and young adults

CHICAGO, IL – April 25, 2018 – Outcome Health, a technology company that provides health education at the moment of care to improve patient outcomes, today announced a partnership with Unity Consortium, a broad base of leading public and private organizations focused on improving health through preventive healthcare and vaccination for teens and young adults. Through this partnership with Outcome Health, Unity can deliver actionable healthcare intelligence to patients via a digital platform — specifically waiting room TVs and exam room wallboards — to physician practices across the country.

“Millions of adolescents and young adults in the U.S. are not fully vaccinated according to CDC guidelines and many are unaware that they are missing recommended vaccines,” said Judy Klein, President of Unity Consortium. “Our partnership with Outcome Health will help educate teens, young adults and their parents about vaccines recommended specifically for this age group as well as encourage them to catch up on any missing or late immunizations.”

Vaccines are recommended for adolescents and young adults to protect against diseases like whooping cough, meningococcal disease, and cancers caused by human papillomavirus (HPV), yet despite recommendations by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, adolescent immunization rates in the U.S. have historically lagged behind coverage goals.

“Vaccination is an essential part of keeping teens and young adults healthy and protected from serious diseases,” said Nancy Phelan, Senior Vice President of Life Sciences at Outcome Health. “The best time for intervention is at the moment of care. In keeping with our mission, Outcome Health is partnering with Unity Consortium to drive positive patient outcomes and help improve the vaccination rates for teens and young adults.”

Outcome Health will begin the campaign with a series of infographics in both English and Spanish so that a larger patient population can understand the critical role teen and young adult vaccination plays in disease prevention. Outcome Health will deliver this message to all primary care, pediatric, and OB-GYN providers across its nationwide network.

Outcome Health’s platform includes technologies such as the Waiting Room TV, which can promote specialty-specific content and deliver lifestyle management videos to patients’ pre-consultation. It also includes the Exam Room Wallboard, which offers access to 3D anatomical renderings for use during the consultation. Physicians can zoom, rotate and annotate body systems and disease states to give patients a personalized visual of their health.

Outcome Health Announces Partnership with WomenHeart to Bring Cardiovascular Information to Minority Groups

By | News

Partnership Will Provide Actionable Information to Help Women Improve Their Heart Health

CHICAGO – April 02, 2018 – Outcome Health, which provides health education at the moment of care to improve patient outcomes, announced today an initiative with WomenHeart: The National Coalition for Women with Heart Disease, the first and only national patient-centered organization solely focused on women’s heart disease. Through this partnership, Outcome Health and WomenHeart will collaborate to deliver actionable educational information to cardiology, primary care, and obstetrics and gynecology providers across Outcome Health’s nationwide network.

“Nearly 1 in 3 Hispanic women have cardiovascular disease and more than 48,000 African American women die from heart disease each year,” said Mary McGowan, WomenHeart CEO. “By partnering with Outcome Health, we can make more women aware of this disproportionate reality in accordance with our mission of ensuring that every woman has access to prevention and early detection, accurate diagnosis and proper treatment.”

Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death among American women. Currently, over 48 million women are living with or are at risk of heart disease, and CardioSmart reports that more than 432,000 women will die from cardiovascular disease this year.

“The disparity in the dissemination of information about heart disease and its risks, particularly for women of color, is alarming,” said Outcome Health’s Chief Operating Officer, Nandini Ramini. “Through this initiative with WomenHeart, we have the great privilege of raising awareness about the symptoms and treatments of a disease that is responsible for nearly one in four female deaths, yet is often untreated.”

Outcome Health’s platform includes technologies such as the Exam Room Wallboard, which offers access to 3D anatomical renderings for use during the consultation. Physicians can zoom, rotate and annotate body systems and disease states to give patients a personalized visual of their health.

In recognition of Minority Health month in April, the information deployed across Outcome Health’s network will focus on heart disease facts and figures for minorities, specifically African-American and Hispanic women. Outcome Health will deliver this information across its nationwide network of 41,242 practices.

Outcome Health and the Colorectal Cancer Alliance Announce Campaign to Support Patient Education

By | News

Innovative Partnership Will Raise Awareness for Colorectal Cancer Which Is The Third Most Commonly Diagnosed Cancer

CHICAGO, March 28, 2018 – Outcome Health, a technology company that provides health education at the moment of care to improve patient outcomes, today announced a partnership with the Colorectal Cancer Alliance (the Alliance) to make patients aware of the signs and symptoms of colorectal cancer. Through this partnership, Outcome Health and the Alliance will deliver actionable healthcare intelligence to patients via digital devices — specifically exam room wallboards — in physician practices across the country.

“Young people, in the prime of their lives, are being diagnosed with colorectal cancer more often and at a later stage than any other age group,” says Sara Geist, Director of Marketing and Communications at the Alliance. “Through our partnership with Outcome Health, we can reach a wider audience and increase awareness to the under fifty community.”

Colorectal cancer is the third most commonly diagnosed cancer and the second leading cause of cancer death in men and women combined in the United States. According to the American Cancer Society, this year, roughly 95,520 people will be diagnosed with colon cancer, 39,910 will be diagnosed with rectal cancer, and 50,260 will die from this disease. Last year, the Alliance surveyed 1,500 young onset colorectal cancer survivors and found that 82% were initially misdiagnosed and 67% saw at least two doctors before being correctly diagnosed with colorectal cancer.

“The Colorectal Cancer Alliance is tirelessly working to raise awareness of and fund critical research for colorectal cancer,” said Anil Harjani, Vice President of Product Management and Strategic Partnerships at Outcome Health. “We are proud to work with the Alliance to provide support for patients, caregivers and survivors.”

In recognition of Colorectal Cancer Awareness month in March, Outcome Health and the Alliance will focus on deploying resources to educate patients and providers about the signs and symptoms of colorectal cancer. Outcome Health will deliver this information to all primary care and gastrointestinal providers across its nationwide network.

Outcome Health Announces Release of Next-Generation Infusion Room Tablet for Oncology Clinics Nationwide

By | News

The tablets offer new features that guide patients through treatment with support resources, empathy and entertainment

CHICAGO, March 08, 2018 – Outcome Health, the health intelligence technology leader that is revolutionizing patient care, today announced the release of the next generation of its Infusion Room Tablet (IRT), a flagship product in the Outcome Health line of products that empower patients at the moment of care. The IRT is designed to assist oncology patients during treatment, creating a more positive experience during lengthy infusions.

“The next generation of Infusion Room Tablets is state-of-the-art and provides more features to make oncology patients more comfortable during treatment,” says Nandini Ramani, Chief Operating Officer of Outcome Health. “Oncology patients often spend up to three hours getting a single treatment, and our new tablets will provide content that helps them pass the time in a more comforting, informative and inspirational way.”

The updated IRTs feature more customizable content, including the ability for providers to share information about the clinic, available clinical trials, condition education, treatment resources, surveys, custom links and more. They also contain a wealth of inspiration and entertainment options, including patient success stories, meditation resources and popular movies. Other new features, such as a “topic selector” button and clearly labeled advertisements, increase ease of use for both clinics and patients.

“As a cancer survivor, the support resources featured on the Infusion Room Tablets play a major role in a patient’s journey by empowering them to be more engaged and successfully complete their treatments,” says Jonny Imerman, founder of Imerman Angels, a non-profit organization providing one-to-one support for cancer fighters, survivors, and caregivers. “Whether it’s through meditation exercises, having access to condition information or watching a movie, Outcome Health’s IRT helps support cancer patients through every aspect of their experience.”

“These cutting-edge tablets build on the success of the first-generation Outcome Health IRTs, which are currently deployed in over 650 clinics across the country,” says Andrew Hotle, Product Manager at Outcome Health. “Cancer treatment can be an incredibly difficult experience, both physically and emotionally, and we’re proud to release a product that guides patients through the experience with empathy and positivity.”

“The new interface has been redesigned to be truly patient-centric,” says Michael Gunn, Head of Product Experience at Outcome Health. “We worked with a sample of patients to improve usability and overall experience, while being sensitive to their needs while they spend extended periods of time within the infusion room.” The updated interface uses clear and concise language that speaks directly to the patient, helping them understand what to expect when using the device, how it works, and where to find more information.

With significant improvements to data analytics and reporting, the IRT is now BPA-approved and setting the standard for Outcome Health’s devices. The IRTs are part of the company’s health intelligence platform, a BPA-certified network of more than 152,000 digital devices including waiting room screens, exam and infusion room tablets, exam room wallboards and Wi-Fi access in more than 41,000 physician offices across the country.

Outcome Health and the American College of Cardiology Announce Innovative Partnership to Improve Heart Health

By | News

Organizations Collaborate to Co-Design and Deliver CardioSmart Information in Physician Offices Across the Country

CHICAGO, February 12, 2018 – Outcome Health, a technology company that provides health education at the moment of care to improve patient outcomes, today announced an innovative partnership with the American College of Cardiology (ACC) to transform cardiovascular care and improve heart health across the country.  Through this partnership, Outcome Health and the ACC’s patient education and empowerment initiative, CardioSmart, will collaborate to co-design and deliver actionable healthcare intelligence to patients via digital devices — including waiting room screens, patient tablets and wallboards — in physician practices in the critical moments of care.

“Educating patients on their heart disease risk and the steps they can take toward preventing heart disease are among the highest priorities of the American College of Cardiology,” said Martha Gulati, MD, FACC, editor-in-chief of CardioSmart.org. “Through this partnership, we’ll be able to extend our reach to patients in the Outcome Health network at most risk and give them the tools they need to live a heart healthy lifestyle.”

Outcome Health’s platform includes technologies such as the Exam Room Tablet, which can onboard patients to lifestyle management programs, as well as deliver interactive resources and health assessments to patients’ pre-consultation. It also includes the Digital Wallboard, which offers access to 3D anatomical renderings for use during the consultation. On Outcome Health’s Digital Wallboard, 3D anatomical renderings of the heart are used more than any other diagram during patient consultations with their healthcare provider.

In recognition of American Heart month in February, Outcome Health and the ACC will focus on deploying resources to educate patients and providers about the recently updated blood pressure guidelines to ensure patients are aware of their cardiovascular risk. In addition to partnering with the ACC to drive innovation and outcomes across its member network of 52,000 cardiologists and cardiovascular care team members, Outcome Health will deliver resources from CardioSmart to offices across its network of more than 40,000 practices.

“The American College of Cardiology takes a holistic approach towards transforming cardiovascular care and heart health,” said Anil Harjani, Vice President of Product Management and Strategic Partnerships at Outcome Health.  We look forward to adding another dimension to this important work through our platform. Together, we strive to deliver the best outcome possible to the millions of patients, physicians and caregivers that we impact.”

Outcome Health Announces Campaign to Raise Awareness During Severe Flu Season

By | News

Network-wide Campaign Will Encourage Flu Shots, Other Precautionary Measures

CHICAGO, February 7, 2018 – Outcome Health, which provides health education at the moment of care to improve patient outcomes, announced today that it has launched a flu education campaign across its platform to help patients understand the risk of contracting the flu and how to take precautionary measures. The campaign, ran pro bono with content from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), is currently active across more than 80,000 digital devices within the Outcome Health network of 40,000 physician offices and health systems in the country.

“This year’s flu season has been devastating for at-risk populations, including the very young, the elderly, and those with compromised immune systems, but it has also hit otherwise healthy people unusually hard,” said Anil Harjani Vice President, Product Management & Strategic Partnerships at Outcome Health. “By increasing awareness of the risks and educating patients about how to prevent the spread of influenza, our goal is to keep more people healthy through the duration of flu season and help save lives.”

While flu shots have been available for months, CDC recommends that all unvaccinated individuals get the shot as quickly as possible, as flu season may not have peaked. The CDC also advises that certain groups are at a high risk of developing serious complications if they contract influenza, including pregnant women, children younger than 5, people 65 and older and any individual with certain chronic medical conditions.

The Outcome Health campaign will provide information about protecting those who are unable to get the vaccine, and actions to take if you or someone in your household gets sick. Health officials have confirmed that there has been an increase in the number of people visiting their doctors or health-care providers for flu-like symptoms; therefore, point of care is a powerful tool for patients to learn how to stay healthy.

The CDC says this season’s epidemic is on track to rival the 2014-15 flu season. That year, the CDC estimates 34 million Americans got the flu, with more than 700,000 hospitalized.
